Thank you for participating in the Teachers in Our Community Project!

This project gives the fourth grade an opportunity to learn about the diversity and complexity of our community through the use of ethnography.

Students in the fourth grade have selected people in our community that they feel share knowledge and have importance. Students will interview these people about their lives and their roles in our community. These interviews will be digitally recorded. Students will also take digital photographs and collect artifacts of the people they choose. The may want to visit their interviewees at home or work to document hobbies, community activities, or other interests.

The photos, recorded interviews, and artifacts will be used to create a digital movie about the people interviewed and what the students learned from them. Students will also create a model house or building dedicated to the person interviewed. The movie and houses will be presented at the school on November 3rd, 2005 at the Twinfield Library at 6:00 in the evening.

A signed media release form is required for students to use the recorded voices or images of the interviewees in any part of the project. Interviewees can decide if they want to give no, partial, or complete permission to have their recorded images and voices used in any aspect of this project. Parts of the project may be posted on the Twinfield and the Vermont Folklife Center websites.

Please contact Sarah Pulaski (ext. 275) or Peter Herrick (ext. 219) if you have any questions at 426-3213.

Thank you for your time.
